Pvt Fred C. Schaschl graduated from Weaver High School and Hartford State Trade School and was a toolmaker and die sinker before he enlisted in New Haven, Connecticut on 12 October 1944. he was sent overseas on 15 March 1945.

He is remembered at the Northwood Cemetery in Windsor, Connecticut.

He is remembered on a plaque at the town hall in West Hartford.
