Cpl Charles B. Calhoun graduated from Greensboro High School, where he was active in football, basketball and track. Hee was employed by the Clegg's bakeryHe enlisted at Camp Croft, South Carolina on 19 September 1942 and was sent overseas in February 1943 and served with his unit during the African and Sicilian Campaigns before he participated in the D-Day landing on 6 June 1944.
He is remembered at the Green Hill Cemetery in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.
