Served in the Army Tank Corps 1941-1945, North African Invasion, Battle of the Bulge, all through Europe, 2nd Armored Division under General Patton.
'While attempting to advance in the vicinity of a house supposedly cleared by the infantry, the lead tank, Capt Robert E. Lee's of D Company, was struck by panzerfaust fire. Exploding ammunition blew the turret from the tank and all five of the crew were killed.'
