Cpl Harold B. Scheuber was a 1936 graduate of Hendrik Hudson High School where he was a star player on the tennis team, performed in the Glee Club and was on the Honor Society. He was employed as the 2nd Assistant Chief of the Cortland Engine Company.

He enlisted in Jamaica, New York on 5 March 1941. He trained in Fort Benning and went overseas to Africa in October 1942. He saw action there, Sicily, Italy and landed in Normandy on 9 June 1944.
His father was born in Germany.
