Pfc Francis P. Barrett was a chauffeur before he enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 4 September 1942.

The Barrett Brothers were young men who lived and played in this North St. Louis neighborhood They gave up their lives during world war II, along with four of their cousins-all great grandsons of Irish famine immigrants Patrick and Mary Barrett. The Barrett brothers Park was dedicated to their memory in 1947.

He was shot by a sniper.
