More information
Pfc Max F. Stoessel enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 3 May 1943.Both his parents were born in Germany.
He was initially reported missing in the ferocious fighting December 17, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge at Rocherath, Belgium in the Ardennes. Evidence sufficient to establish his death on that date from a gun shot wound to the head was determined in February 1945.
The Bethlehem Lutheran Church dedicated the Altar Vases to him, although his name is misspelled on their memorial plaque.
