T/5 Vance Morgan was a stock boy at the Scott Burr Stores Corporation before he enlisted at Camp Shelby, Mississippi on 26 October 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to the stomach and leg.

The memorial plaque hangs in the lobby of Hazard, Kentucky's Memorial Gym.

His brother, Arthur Morgan, is buried next to him.
