S/Sgt La Verne R. Stackhouse was an author, editor and reporter before he joined the Regular Army on 21 January 1939. He was sent overseas in July 1944.He was killed by small arms fire in his loin.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
