T/5 Robert V. Sakowicz graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1942. He was employed at R. R. Donnelly Company before he enlisted.The Company crossed the Saar River and advanced east to Hockweiller, where the Company ran into a heavy enemy artillery barrage. Pfc Frank Obrochta and T/5 Robert Sakowicz were killed.
