Former Warner Bros. employee reported killed in action - Lieutenant Jack B. Doherty formerly employed in Warner Bros. home office reproduction department in New York, was killed in action in Germany, according to notification just received from the War Department. Lieutenant Doherty, 28, was awarded the Purple Heart during the Normandy Invasion July 1944. Jack B. Doherty enlisted on 8 February 1937, Troop B, 101s Cavalry and was honorably discharged on 7 February 1940. He re-enlisted on 26 January 1941 at Brooklyn, New York, Troop F, 101st Cavalry and was honorably discharged on 21 August 1942.
