Pvt Louis Weaver was sent overseas in June 1944 and joined his unit from a replacement depot on 17 July 1944.

He was seriously wounded on 30 July 1944. After a period of hospitalization in England, he returned to his unit.

His brother, Ervin Weaver, was killed in North Africa on 23 May 1943. Two other brothers were also in service, Morris with a tank division in Germany, and Willis in the South Pacific.
