Merchant Seaman Kenneth Lutz died of an acute nephritis and acute pericarditis. 'Nefrite aguda Pericardite aguda', as stated by official Portugees certificate of death, issued on 24 Novembe 1945 by the Fifth Civil Registry of Lisbon.

He was initially buried on 25 November 1945 at the English cemetery of the English Church of Lisbon, Portugal.
