Merchant Seaman Carl Holm was born in Russia and had no relatives.He died of an untracranial haemorrhage due to a fractured skull, sustained during a brawl in a bar in Cape Town. Two American seamen, John Feriera and
George Kapas, were convicted of assault. They were sentenced to six weeks hard labor while the latter was sentenced to three months hard labor.
He was first buried at the Maitland Cemetery in Cape Town, South Africa.
