More information

Pfc David H. Moore graduated from Lincoln High School and was employed at Seattle Tacoma Ship Yards. During high school Pvt Moore was known for his wood carving. On one picture he presents one of his works to his high school as a farewell gift before entering the army.

He enlisted in Seattle, Washington on 30 August 1943.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.

Two pictures show a sculpture of his hand that was redicovered in 2026 in Tacoma, Washington in the collection of the Tacoma Historical Society. It may be his only piece still in existence and it gives one pause to wonder what else he might have created had he lived to come home.
