Pvt Francis E. Clouser joined the Regular Army in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 30 October 1940. He attended Perry Township High School and had been overseas five months.While out on patrol Pvt Clouser was ambushed and killed.
He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Andilly, France.
