2nd Lt Peterson Cavert enlisted at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on 19 September 1942. Member of an infantry outfit serving with Gen. George Patton's Third Army, Lieutenant Cavert had been transferred from an antitank division tot he infantry. A native of Nashville, he was educated at Webb School, Bell Buckle, and at Davidson College, Davidson, N.C.He was an elevator operator before he enlisted.
He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Limey, France.
