Anthony Szabanowski's father was born in Poland and immigrated in 1902. His mother was born in Vilnius, Lithuania.Anthony was a driver for the State Highway Department. He was married to Genevieve Dubrowski in 1938.
He enlisted on 3 August 1943 in Hartford, Connecticut and joined his unit on 3 September 1944.
Pfc Szabanowski's body was found and identified in 1973, repatriated and re-interred at the Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingsdale, Suffolk County, New York.
