Pvt Norman W. Milbury graduated from Sanborn Sseminary in Kingston in 1925 and was employed at the L.S. Starrett Tool Co. in Athol, Massachusetts and Mears Wood Heel Co. in Irving, Massachusetts before he enlisted on 21 March 1944 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.

He was sent overseas in September 1944 and joined his unit from a replacement sepot on 27 October 1944.
