Pvt Alvin T. Eggerding enlisted in December 1943.He graduated from Manuel High School in 1937 where he was on the football team for a year. He was known to like fishing and planned to be a draftsman or pattern maker after graduation.
He was employed at Alison's General Motors Corporation before enlisting in the Army Air Corps. He received his basic training at Miami Beach, Florida and was stationed at Wilmington, North Carolina. Besides his wife Pvt Eggerding left behind a two years old son.
