Pvt. John M. Brooks was a truckdriver for the Hazleton Sportswear Co.

He enlisted in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on 18 May 1943. He trained at Camp Stewart, Gorgiaa with the anti-aircraft artillery and at Orlando, Florida, Camp Gordon, Georgia and Fort Meade, Maryland. After being sent overseas he was transferred to the Infantry.
