2nd Lt Harold C. Toombs graduated from Box Elder High School and Weber College and was employed at a rubber plant in Los Angeles, California before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Los Angeles, California on 17 April 1942.

The airplane was attacked by enemy aircraft and struck with rocket missiles. It broke apart in flight.

Three crew members were able to bail out and were taken prisoner. Seven crew members were killed.

He is remembered at the cemetery in Brigham City, Utah.
