2nd Lt Elvin C. Erickson graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1940 and attended the University of Minnesota before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Minneapolis, Minnesota on 1 April 1942.

S/Sgt Arlen R. Hermon:
Thirty to forty minutes after leaving the target near Villingen, Germany, five of the crew members bailed out at an altitude of between 300 and 500 feet after the aircraft was shot in two by an ME 110. The ship went down and burned.

He didn’t bail out.
