T/3 James N. Stavru attended Boston University where he was elected president of the freshman class in the College of Liberal Arts and was a member of the Men's Glee Club.

He volunteered for the Army of the Uniteds States in Boston, Massachusetts on 3 February 1942.

His Hospital Admission Card shows that in May 1945 he was admitted and discharged to a Field Hospital with Encephalitis. It can be assumed that he died of this illness.
