Sgt Edwin J. Moloney graduated from Englewood High School where he was an outstanding sportsman, especially excelling at basketball. He held a number of jobs during the Depression years and enlisted in the Army in 1941, the same year he married Cecelia Dever. He was in the Military Police and spent a bulk of his service on the New York City docks. As the war was coming to an end, he re-enlisted and was shipped out with the infantry to the European theater of war in January, 1945. He was killed on 14 April, two weeks before the war ended and 6 weeks before his only child, daughter Anne, was born. His wife never remarried. She lived to be 93.Anne Moloney Black visiting her father's grave at Margraten, during the Winter of 1968.
