More information

Sgt Edwin J. Moloney graduated from Englewood High School where he was an outstanding sportsman, especially excelling at basketball. He held a number of jobs during the Depression years and enlisted in the Army in 1941, the same year he married Cecelia Dever. He was in the Military Police and spent a bulk of his service on the New York City docks. As the war was coming to an end, he re-enlisted and was shipped out with the infantry to the European theater of war in January, 1945. He was killed on 14 April, two weeks before the war ended and 6 weeks before his only child, daughter Anne, was born. His wife never remarried. She lived to be 93.
