T/5 Frederick Cowburn enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 9 September 1941. He was stationed in various camps in the States before leaving for overseas duty in Africa in November, 1942. He took part in the Sicilian landing, after which he was sent to England and then took part in the Normandy landing. He also saw service in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.He was noted as being employed as a machinist and also as single, without dependents.
Frederick Cowburn, attached to the Medical Corps, died Nov. 28 as a result of wounds sufferred in Germany on the same day. He was awarded the Bronze Star 4 November 1944 for bravery in France.
