Pfc Louis F. Dollinger was a graduate of du Pont Manual Training High School and was employed at Ballard & Ballard Company.

He enlisted at Louisville, Kentucky on 19 December 1942 and was sent overseas on 1 July 1944.

He joined his unit from a replacement depot on 1 September 1944 and was lightly wounded in action on 14 September 1944 at Brest, France for which he received the Purple Heart Medal a first time.
