Pvt Raymond A. Borries graduated from Teutopolis Township High School in 1944. While in high school he worked saturdays and school breaks at Siemer Milling Company.

He enlisted on 13 July 1944 and was sent overseas in December 1944.

Pvt Borries was wounded mortally when his armored car struck a land mine
