More information
Pvt Joe Bondioli and his brother S/Sgt Pat Bondioli both served in Germany. Both brothers were reunited on 18 February 1944 in Germany at which time Pat informed his brother that he was the father of a girl, born 2 February. Word of the child's birth had reached the uncle before the father. Both had been in the European theater several months before meeting.Pvt Joe Bondiolo and another member of his platoon were serving as sentinels when they spotted a superior force of the enemy advancing toward their position. Pvt Bondiolo volunteered to delay the enemy advance while his companion went for assistance. When they returned, Pvt. Bondiolo had been killed by small arms fire.
Pvt Bondioli married Ruth Kathryn Walworth on 21 September 1941 in Yuma, Arizona.
