Pfc Mitchell J. Kasica was a baker at the Hill-Top Bakery in his hometown.

He enlisted in Trenton, New Jersey on 16 June 1941.

Both his parents were born in Poland.

His commanding officer, Col John C. Mac Donald, wrote to his parents that Kasica's unit became the target of enemy mortar fore en that he was struck by a shell fragment which killed him instantly.

He is remembered on the 4th Cavalry WWII Memorial at Fort Meade, Meade County, South Dakota.

His younger brother Henry was killed on 27 February 1945, two days after Mitchell, in the Pacific, serving with the 6th Infantry Division.
