Pvt Clifford F. Thompson worked for the Foster Wheeler Corporation as a leader of the boiler assembly.

He enlisted in Rochester, New York on 17 February 1943. He trained at Camp Coxecomb and Camp Young in California ans Camp Maxey in Texas. During his training he qualified as a marksman with the machinegun, sub machinegun and pistol.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Cemetery at Fosse, Belgium.

Nota about the date of his death:
According to the records of ABMC, Pvt Thompson died on 18 September 1944. The Democrat and Chronicle however published an article about him on 11 July 1944, mentioning that he was missing in action since 19 June 1944.
