Private Anthony Bei attended two years of high school and worked as a photographer before he enlisted at Fort Jay, Governor's Island, New York on 27 May 1942.

He was killed during the Waalriver crossing and was intially buried at the American War Cemetery Molenhoek, The Netherlands on 22 September 1944, Plot A, Row 7, Grave 140.

His name is mentioned on the Waalcrossing Monument in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
