Pfc Norman Heiden worked on the family farm.

He enlisted on 10 June 1941. When he asked for transfer to the paratroopers, he was demoted to private.

He participated in the invasion of Sicily and Anzio, Italy.

He is remembered at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Eberle, Effingham County, Illinois.
