S/Sgt Gerald R. Mackinder was employed at Central Fibre Product in Chelsea.

He was sent overseas on 1 September 1944 and joined his unit from a replacement depot on 12 October and was promoted from Sgt to S/Sgt on 24 October 1944.

The Mackinder-Glenn Post #510 of the American Legion in Stockbridge, Michigan is named in his honor.
