S/Sgt Raymond W. Baker was an errand boy before he volunteered for the U.S. Army in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 24 March 1942.

S/Sgt Baker was first buried in a temporary grave at Margraten on 22 November 1944. He was disinterred on 21 June 1948 and his remains were prepared and placed in a casket on 25 June 1948. He was given his final resting place on 20 December 1948.
