Pfc Roger E. Earle joined his unit from Replacement Depot on 7 October 1944.The Earle Family lived on Riverview Dr, a short distance southeast of Plainwell. Roger attended Plainwell elementary and high school. He graduated in 1932. Roger worked at the paper mill. On Nov 17, 1934 he married Cora Elfrink and Dec 13, 1942 their son Douglas was born.
Nine months later, on Sept 10, 1943 Roger was drafted into the Army. He was inducted into a nearby base so he could return home for a few days on Sept 12, he was then sent to Camp van Dorn, Mississippi. During his time at Camp van Dorn, Roger was attached to the 63rd infantry. However he later was transferred to the 115th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Infantry Division. From the time he started his training at Camp van Dorn, his time overseas and the circumstances about his dead there is no record.
Pfc Roger E. Earle was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Margraten Block C, Row 8, Grave 188.
