Sgt Hunt graduated from Huntington High School in 1936.

He enlisted on 1 March 1941, receiving his training at Camp Edwards, Fort Devens and Fort Bragg. He spent some time on Coast Guard duty in Old Orchard, Maine and as an instructor at Camp Framingham. He was sent overseas February 1944.

He was last seen leading a squad into attack northeast of Hürtgen, Germany.
