Pfc Alphonse Fleury enlisted in Springfield, Massachusetts on 7 March 1941. He worked in the Armory at Springfield before his induction. He was a member of the National guard and went overseas in February 1944.

On 20 December, CCB launched its attack to clear the towns Untermaubach and Obermaubach and pockets to the South and Southeast to the Roer River. Pfc Fleury was killed during the First Army drive for the Roer in Winden, Germany, by a German sniper's bullet.
