S/Sgt John D. Carr attended college and was a millwright before he joined the Regular Army in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 8 October 1941.

S/Sgt Robert W. Fisher:
Our plane was forced out of formation by enemy aircraft. Soon after we were hit by flak, which destroyed our oxygen system.

The pilot, Bill Byrne, and Sgt Carr were killed when the airplane blew up.

He is remembered at the Emlenton Cemetery in Emlenton, Pennsylvania.
