Sgt Frederic W. Stantial enlisted on 27 September 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts and was promoted to Sergeant on 22 September 1944.He was reported lightly wounded in action on 5 October 1944 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time. After recovering he returned to his unit.
