More information

Pfc William A. Croson entered the service on March 27, 1942 at Ft Dix, New Jersey. He had completed 2 years of college and was married.

The 345th was pushing steadily ahead. The First Battalion was at Neureuth, the Second was approaching the town from the southwest, and the Third was attacking Reuth which was the next village stronghold.

Company L closed into Reuth at 1355 after a brief but bitter fire fight costing eight men and twelve wounded. The enemy lost twenty killed, twenty nine captured and control of the town. It was during this approach that PFC Croson was KIA.
