Sgt George J. Pinto attended Tappan Zee High School. He was a fireman in the Pearl River Hook and Ladder Co.

He enlisted at Fort Jay, Governors Island, New York on 13 April 1942.

He participated in the North African campaign and the invasion of Sicily. He was with the first wave to strike shore on the Normandy beachhead in the invasion of France.
