Pvt William C. Harvison joined the Regular Army on 24 November 1939.

He served three years with the 49th Infantry at Fort Benning, Ga., and five years with an engineers unit of the First Army. Pvt Harvison had been overseas since July, 1942 and had seen action in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France.
