Pfc Harry Aschoff was a foreman before he enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 10 January 1944.He joined his unit from replacement depot on 3 August 1944 and was lightly wounded in action on 11 September 1944. He was promoted to Pfc on 1 December 1944. He was killed by a mortar shell in a foxhole.
He was first buried in a temporary grave at Margraten. He was disinterred on 2 July 1948 and his remains were prepared and placed in a casket on 6 July 1948. He was given his final resting place on 29 January 1949.
