Pvt Michael H. De Girolamo graduated from McKinley High School and was employed at the Pennsylvania Railroad Company before he enlisted in Akron, Ohio on 9 February 1943.He was officially declared dead one year and one day after he was reported missing in action. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of St. Goar, Germany.
His brother Patrick served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific and his brother Frederick served in France.
