Pfc Horace A. Sanford was a welder.He enlisted in Portland, Maine on 15 June 1943.
According to a history of the battalion, written by Dean Jewett, on 16 December 1944, Pfc Sanford drove a weapons carrier, accompanied by three men of B Company to retrieve some material. The truck ran into an ambush and Pvt Sanford was taken prisoner.
He died in Stalag III-A.
