Pvt Edgar S. Bates was an attendant at a filling station before he enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 22 March 1944.He was first buried in a temporary grave at Margraten on 27 November 1944. He was disinterred on 14 July 1948 and his remains were prepared and placed in a casket on 15 July 1948. Pvt Bates was given his final resting place on 6 January 1949.
