More information

S/Sgt Jerry L. Maruca was a crane man before he enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 25 September 1942.

2nd Lt W. E. Pepper:
Aircraft 42-95029 was not definitely identified by any of the returning crews. An aircraft believed to be 42-95029 was last seen at 1040 hours at 5236N-0630E flying at about a 1000 feet. Two engines were out and the No 1 engine was feathered. This aircraft was heard trying to call Air/Sea rescue saying that he was trying to land outside of enemy territory. The call letters were not distinguishable. This headquarters contacted Air/Sea rescue and no distress signals were received by them due to the distance and low altitude that the aircraft was flying at, at the time of sending distress signals.

T/Sgt Walter Quinn:
He went down with plane and crashed near Quedlinburg, Germany.
