T/5 James N. Wilbanks graduated from Walnut High School before he enlisted on 6 February 1943. He was sent overseas in December 1943.During a German arial attack on a messhall in the area of the Julia Mine, seventeen servicemen and an employee of the mine were killed.
T/5 Wilbanks is commemorated on a Remembrance Plaque in Eygelshoven, The Netherlands.
