He attended schools in Muncie and later the Myrtle Ave. School here. Private Smith went overseas with the infantry last July, after three months of training at Camp Wolters, Texas. He formerly worked for United Engineering & Foundry Co.Pvt John Smith enlisted on 17 February 1944 at Cleveland, Ohio. He joined his unit from Replacement Depot on 25 October 1944.
