T/Sgt William Ridder graduated from South Vocational High School and had worked for Jones & Laughlin before he enlisted in July 1943. He was sent overseas in March 1944 and joined his unit on 19 June 1944. He was reported wounded in action on 27 August 1944. For this wound, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
